Site Speed Analytics in Lumar

“Let’s start with, in my opinion, the most exciting part,” said Colebrook, introducing Lumar’s site speed tools, “They’re a new and improved way to identify opportunities to increase your site speed. They utilize Lighthouse metrics —but we can run that at scale — and it’s put in the report format that you know and love already in the existing Lumar tool.”

“Rather than having to individually run Lighthouse tests on your pages, we can do that across hundreds of thousands of pages at a time,” she explains.

Lumar’s site speed analytics provide more actionable data than other tools, with both high-level overviews and the ability to really drill down into the granular details so you can get the specifics, explanations of the issues found, and recommendations on how to actually resolve these site speed issues.

With the site speed tools in Lumar, you can:

  • Get fast, at-scale website speed (Lighthouse) insights: Lumar’s ultra-fast, scalable and flexible website crawler allows you to identify site speed issues across your entire site, fast.
  • Get truly actionable data:  High-level site speed overviews with the ability to drill down into granular details, plus clear explanations of how to resolve issues.
  • Prioritize site speed issues effectively: Aggregated site speed issues help identify the biggest opportunities. Sort, filter, and segment issues to focus on issues that will have the greatest impact.
  • Collaborate easily on site speed fixes: Get all the information you need to write clear acceptance criteria for dev tickets, eliminating the back-and-forth and ensuring issues are resolved quickly.

Our flexible crawler now allows you to identify site speed issues across your entire site, quicker than ever.

The ability to identify site speed issues is only the beginning of the journey and we understand that this data needs to be truly actionable.

From the high-level overviews, you now have the ability to drill down into granular details and read clear explanations of how to resolve issues.

We also want you to be able to prioritize effectively.

Aggregated site speed issues help identify your biggest opportunities. You can also sort, filter, and segment these issues easily to focus on those that will have the greatest impact.

Resolving issues often relies on collaboration. In order for you to be able to collaborate with other teams as effectively as possible, it is easier than ever to get the information you need to write clear acceptance criteria for developer tickets – eliminating back and forth, and ensuring issues are resolved quickly.

Website Change Metrics Reports

We have five new reports that allow you to see key metrics that have changed between your last website crawl and the most recent crawl. They are:

  1. Pages with changed status code
  2. Pages with changed level
  3. Pages with changed title
  4. Pages with changed description
  5. Pages with changed H1 tags

Colebrook also highlights that there are additional new charts on the SEO overview dashboard and Rankability > Page Content dashboard.

In Lumar Monitor, you will receive alerts when key website metrics change. You can also view all domains, geographies, and/or important site sections in one place in the Monitor app.

“All Reports” and “Errors View” Improvements

We’ve listened to your feedback and made reports even easier to navigate.

Users can now add, remove and reorder columns – as well as sort data by any column.

Changes here are stored locally, too – meaning they are saved for you but not other users, allowing you to retain your favorite ways to view your website data without having to reconfigure your views every time.

Additionally, our sticky table headers remain visible as you scroll down tables – making things even easier to visualize and keep track of.

Subscription Page Updates

Changes here include an easy-to-view energy bar of how many credits you have used and how many you have left.

Lumar platform UI - easily see your remaining credits.

From here you can also request changes by clicking the edit button and updating your details. This also notifies a member of our team to reach out should you want to discuss your subscription/package options.

Lumar Monitor Updates

We have also made updates to Lumar’s dashboarding and alerting tool, Monitor.

We’ve made it a lot easier to configure your custom alert rules across multiple projects. And now you can also quickly copy existing alert rules to any of your other projects.

Category score templates have also been tweaked in Monitor. It is now quicker than ever to create a dashboard. And there are additional templates for technical SEO, site speed, and web accessibility health scores for faster at-a-glance monitoring of these metrics across domains, segments etc.

Upcoming Lumar platform releases

The Lumar team is always hard at work developing new features — so let’s take a look at the platform roadmap for a look at what’s coming down the road:

Custom Reports

Building on our custom website metrics capabilities, forthcoming ‘Custom Reports’ in Lumar will provide the ability to change metrics selections and filters and save as a new report.

“The idea here is we want to get more granular in analysis,” Mansour says. “So it’s focusing on specific areas to spot spikes and track trends.”

Store rendered HTML / Screenshots (SEO Reporting)

This update seeks to help recall changes, for instance on high conversion/traffic pages, or opportunities on low performing ones. [Note that there will be a credit cost to this.]

Site Speed Desktop Crawls

Currently we use a mobile user agent for site speed crawling, but we want to offer the same for desktop to give insight on both types of platform as well as offering site speed parity crawls.

Mansour notes that this will be useful for targeting strategies to users across different devices.

Custom Metrics Upload

This will give users the ability to import additional data into Lumar for analysis. For example, a CSV with basic keyword data, all the way through to very specific metrics to your business.

Why? Because, as Mansour notes, there’s a lot of value to having everything in one place. It keeps website monitoring seamless and lessens the possibility of missing issues.

Automatically Pull Conversion Data from Google Analytics

The intention, here, is to improve your prioritization.

Manual Upload of Conversion Data

Again, this seeks to improve prioritization.

CrUX Data

This is scheduled to happen in a few months time.

One of the main benefits of pulling in CrUX Data according to Mansour is so we can include the new INP (Interaction to Next Paint) Core Web Vitals metric.

AI-Generated Developer Ticket Content

This upcoming Lumar tool will allow you to quickly generate the contents of a dev ticket based on a task that’s been created in Lumar, and then use AI to create the first draft.

These tickets will be, of course, fully editable but the intention here is to use AI to improve collaboration across teams by creating high quality tickets that are clear, speedier to generate, and quick to be actioned.

New Task Manager

This is going to be released in stages, but essentially will see an improvement of workflow management to, again, allow for better collaboration between website teams and streamline the whole process of getting fixes done.

Mansour notes that it will also give users a better understanding of what’s causing backlogs and delays in tickets’ progress.

Get in-app alerts when new Lumar features are released

If you didn’t already know, you can be alerted to any product updates in the Lumar app.

Our platform has a ‘product update’ beacon in the bottom left corner.

Any time a new fix, announcement, improvement, report update or release note happens you’ll see a number icon appear here. Simply click through for more information – but please note this feature can be affected by ad blockers.
